At first I thought it was because the grout wasn't sealed. So after one of the millionth times of me bleaching the grout, I finally sealed it myself. Except it still got dirty really quickly. I thought maybe the sealant I used wasn't that good. So I went through the whole process again. Except that didn't stay clean long either {and this is with me mopping the floors every other day pretty much, so I know I was doing my part}
Gross yucky grout
It makes me hate my floors
I had resigned myself to the fact that I would just have to getting down on the floor and spending two+ hours cleaning it every few months if I wanted nice looking floors. I even tried out some new 'recipes' if you will the other day. I mixed 3/4 cup of baking soda with 1/4 cup with bleach {this amount did not cover my whole floor...but I just kept making small batches...I needed 3x this much} and scrubbed that into the grout with a toothbrush.
I then had to wipe it all clean with plain water {which took FOREVER to get all the baking soda up} Once that was done, I got to work with a Magic Eraser {one of my twitter friends suggested it!} All this cleaning and scrubbing did help, and my floors looked pretty good. I knew I would just have to do it again soon, but at least it worked.
Clean, but not 100% happy with it yet
But then Charlie and I were wandering around Lowes the other day and I came across this:
You can see how great the floor looks in the background!
Grout paint!! This looked way easier and would hopefully stay white much longer than before. It was super easy to use {kind of like using a white-out pen} and I was able to do the whole kitchen in no time!
The pictures don't really do it justice...it really came out soo good!
I am soooo happy with the results! I only did this on Sunday, but so far it still looks great. I finally love my kitchen floor! {and will hopefully stop blogging about grout now!

Reading this makes me happy we choose a colored grout anyway :)
OMG I am so doing it this weekend! We have white grout and it is not sealed..i have actually given up cleaning it bc it just doesnt work. Thanks for this
So I have to come back and comment again...the Magic Eraser I suggested, did it work a tad better? And the paint...is it really paint? Or like a stain?
I also thought that our grout was getting so bad because it wasn't "sealed." Who knows if it is, or isn't since we just bought the house. I was temped to clean and seal it, but if the paint works just as well, I'll try that.
Do they have other colors of paint? Our grout is more "off white."
I guess I am as obsessed about grout as you;-)
