Last Wednesday Skip brought both our dogs into the vet for their regular check-ups and shots. Shiba is fine {though she's put on a few too many pounds} but the vet was a little concerned about Mr. B. He had lost 6 lbs in six months, without us trying to get him to lose weight {he had had a few bouts of what we thought was a stomach bug, but had been much better recently}. The vet also felt a mass in his stomach.
I of course was totally freaking out. But the vet just said to try and maybe start to get his weight up a bit and he'd check him next week. Unfortunately Mr. B had a rough weekend...lots of throwing up and he didn't eat for three days. So when we took him back to the vet two days ago, he had lost 4 lbs more, and the mass was still there. So the vet kept him overnight and did an ultra sound yesterday.
When I went to go pick him up, the vet confirmed what we were worried about...Mr. B has a cancerous tumor in his intestines. It's pretty aggressive. We were given a few a few options and Skip and I decided to proceed with a surgery this morning. He's in there right now and we should hear more at 11. I am just praying they are able to get it all out....
Of course the night before you have to undergo cancer surgery is filled with kisses, snuggles, and getting to sleep in your parents bed for the first time!
So if you could, keep Mr. B in your prayers today. He's only four and I'm not ready to let him go!
