Thirty Things: day 6
What is the hardest thing I've ever experienced.
I had to think long and hard about this question, as there have been lots of hard things I've had to overcome or get through in my life. But without a doubt, the absolute hardest thing was Skip's deployment. Which I feel kind of weird even saying since HE is the one who had the crappier end of the deal by far. But it definitely wasn't a walk in the park for me either.
I can barely describe what it's like to send your fiance...the man you are hoping to spend the rest of your life with....off to war. For a year you are gripped with fear. It feels like there is an actually rock sitting in the pit of your stomach that refuses to go away. You cry when you go to sleep, you cry when you wake up. The thought of our life ending before it really began was almost too much to bear sometimes. I swear I physically felt a weight lift off me when Skip called and said he was in Germany, on his way home to me.
But in the end, we did it. We survived. And as much as it just straight up sucked....it changed who we are, for the better. Skip and I don't take anything for granted. We know how easily we could have lost each other, and we never forget how lucky we are to have this life together.
So what about you? What's the hardest thing you've had to go through?

You are such a strong woman. I no it's something you had no choice in, but I am sure this makes you a stronger person for having to go through this. I love this series you are doing!
As i was posting this same post I thought to myself that I knew exactly what you would be posting about. What a time that your family (so many families) go through, and we Americans can never thank you enough for all you have endured. Your pictures melt my heart.
