R is almost 5 and pretty self-sufficient, so that helped alot. That and the fact that he and Emmy are little buddies. They played together every second, pausing only briefly to scarf down some mac and cheese for dinner.
R is on a later bedtime schedule, so I let Emmy stay up with him till 8:30. Then it was upstairs for jammies and teeth brushing. I had planned to have Emmy sleep on a mattress in Charlie's room since I figured she and R would just stay up all night and played, but they begged to sleep in the same bed, so I finally relented.
However at 10:45, after numerous warnings, they were still awake! I finally had to separate them, with cries from Emmy, "But I love him"
The kids may have been overtired the next morning, but it sure was sooo cute getting to witness Emmy's first sleepover....and the last one with a boy until she gets married at 40;-)
