Hi everyone, my name is Jackie and although I don’t have a blog of my
own, I love to read Mommy Musings and other mom blogs and learn all
about the adventures of being a mom. I’ve never blogged before so I
was excited to have an opportunity to give it a try when Mandy asked
for guest bloggers while she vacations at the beach. I also love the
beach and traveling so I am going to tell you today about my favorite
vacation spot; one I recently just visited this summer as part of my
When my husband and I were planning our honeymoon, we wanted to find
places that neither of us had been to and wanted someplace unique.
We finally decided on Jamaica as one of our destinations, and my
husband found a unique all-inclusive resort called The Caves, located
in Negril, Jamaica. It had received awesome reviews on Trip Advisor
and sounded very secluded and peaceful right from the start. We
called and booked it over a year ago and couldn’t wait to go.
To give you a little background, The Caves is a small resort built
into the cliffs of Jamaica. It is adults only; you have to be 16 or
older to stay there, and is compromised of about 10 one-bedroom
We arrived at the Caves on a Monday afternoon and by Monday night we
were completely relaxed and in love with the resort. The staff was
wonderful, as we checked we were immediately given a welcome drink
that was delicious and then taken on a personal detailed tour of the
property. Our first lunch and dinner were excellent and our cottage
had the most stunning ocean view.
The next five days were spent relaxing on cliff ledges, snorkeling,
cliff jumping, and just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. We had
dinner in a cave, which was a really unique and romantic experience
and had really great massages in their spa that overlooked the ocean.
There were only about a twenty guests at most when we were there,
people arriving/departing all the time but everyone was very friendly
and social and we made some great friends throughout our stay.
The meals were awesome, I had never been to all inclusive resort
before so I wasn’t sure what to expect and was nervous that I was
going to be hungry and have nowhere to go get something to eat in
between the set meal times. This was hardly the case and I left most
meals full and I’m sure I gained a good 5 pounds while there. Every
morning at breakfast, you were given a plate of fresh fruit and then
had about 5 breakfast choices. My favorite was the banana pancakes.
At lunch, you were usually given an option to start with a soup or
salad, then given two choices or you could get a combo which was a
little of both choices. At dinner, there were 3 appetizer choices and
you could have as many of them as you wanted, two entrees that again
you could combine and a few choices for dessert. The food was always
fresh and they were very accommodating to any requests guests made.
My husband asked for Jamaican beef patties the day before we were to
leave and that night at dinner they offered it as an appetizer. They
also made awesome frozen drinks that they would bring to you poolside.
There was no beach but you didn’t miss it. A couple we met really
wanted to see the beach so they took a cab down one morning but came
back within a few hours complaining on how crowded it was and how they
missed The Caves.
Overall, we had an amazing time and can’t wait to go back. It was
definitely one of the most unique places I’ve ever been and I would
highly recommend to all couples as a great adults only getaway. You
will definitely relax and come home wanting to go back. Here are a
few pictures to give you an idea of the resort.
